How to Draft From Every Pick Position

Your draft slot changes your best strategy. From the early picks (1 to 4) you lock in an elite anchor and accept a long wait between picks. From the turn (picks 5 to 8) you get balanced value and can pivot by position run. From the back (9 to 12) you make back-to-back picks, which is perfect for grabbing two elite players or executing a Zero RB or receiver-heavy build.

Early picks (1.01 to 1.04)

Take the best overall player and do not overthink it, an every-week anchor is worth the long gap until your next pick. Because you wait roughly 20 picks between selections, target stable, high-floor players and plan two picks ahead so a position run does not leave you empty.

Middle / the turn (1.05 to 1.08)

You get a strong player and shorter waits, which lets you stay flexible and react to the board. Take the best value and let the draft come to you, if a run starts at a position, you can jump in without wrecking your plan.

Late / back (1.09 to 1.12)

You pick twice in a row at each turn, so you can pair two elite players or two of the same position. This is the ideal slot for Zero RB (two premium WRs to start) or for stacking value. Just watch bye weeks when you double up.

Frequently asked

What is the best draft position in fantasy football?

There is no single best slot. Early picks get an elite anchor, the turn gets balance and flexibility, and the back gets back-to-back picks. Adjust your strategy to your slot rather than forcing one plan.

How do I draft from the 1.01?

Take the best overall player, then plan two picks ahead because of the long wait. Favor stable, high-floor players and be ready to pivot if a position run hits before your next pick.
